Indian cuisine is Incomplete without dal preparation. Dal is dried split pulses which are cooked with different spices and in different way depending upon the pulses. This recipe Masur dal dum is a delicious dal recipe which can be served with roti and paratha. Taste is so unique and flavorful. Let's see the necessary Ingredients and the method of cooking this recipe:

Ingredients required to prepare Masur dal Dum recipe:
Masur dal 1 cup or 250 gram,
Potato 1 medium,
Onion 1 large,
Garlic cloves 4 to 5,
Bay leaf 1,
Cardamom 1 green,
Cloves 2 to 3,
Cinnamon stick 1,
Coriander powder 1/2 tsp,
Cumin powder 1/2 tsp,
Red-chili powder 1 tsp,
Turmeric powder 1/2 tsp,
Tomato 1 large chopped,
Green Chili 2,
Sugar 1 tsp,
Mustard oil 1 tbsp,
Ghee 1 tsp,
water 1 cup large.
Method Of Cooking Step By Step:
Step One: Take 250 gram of red masur dal and wash it properly and soak it for 1 hour.
Step Two: Now heat oil and add 1 tbsp mustard oil to it.
Step Three: Add whole spices to it( Cardamom, Cloves, Cinnamon Stick) and one bay leaf.
Step Four: Add chopped onion to it and mix nicely. Cook it until onions become golden brown.
Step Five: Add chopped garlic and mix nicely.
Step Six: Now add soaked masoor dal and potato cubes which we have cut before. Mix nicely so that oil and dal completely mix with each other.
Step Seven: Now add tomato chopped and salt as per taste.
Step Eight: Now its time to add spices like coriander powder, cumin powder, turmeric powder, red chili powder and mix nicely.
Step Nine: Now we will add 1 tsp sugar to it. Sugar will enhance the taste of this recipe.
Step Ten: Now add water and mix nicely.
Step Eleven: Now close the lid and in low flame cook it for 7 to 8 minutes.
Step twelve: Now after 9 minute we will check the dal it is boiled or not. We will check potato also.
Step Thirteen: Since dal has been boiled nicely so its time to add green chili. I have added two here.
Step Fourteen: Finally add some ghee to it for enhancing the taste as well as the flavor.
Serve hot with paratha or roti.
NB: We can add coriander leaves also which enhance the flavor of our recipe though I have not added.
