POTATO & SPINACH CURRY - ALOO PALAK RECIPE - SPINACH WITH POTATO GRAVY


Potato Spinach curry is a very popular recipe in India. It is a preparation of Spinach with potato gravy and added spices. This is a very healthy recipe also. It can be served with Rice or Chapati. Let's check the necessary ingredients and step by step method of cooking potato spinach curry.

Necessary Ingredients Required To Cook Potato Spinach Curry:

Spinach Chopped 1 bowl (I have taken 1 bunch of spinach),
Boil Potato 1 large(Cut into cubes),
Onion 1 large chopped,
Tomato 1 large chopped,
Ginger garlic paste 1/2 tsp,
Garam masala powder 1/4 tsp,
Red chilli powder 1/4 tsp,
Turmeric powder 1/2 tsp,
Coriander powder 1/2 tsp,
Panch-phoron 1/4 tsp,
Green chilli as per taste,
Salt as per taste,
Oil 1 tbsp.

Method Of Cooking Potato Spinach Curry Step By Step:

Step One: Wash and clean the spinach nicely. Now chopped it evenly and keep it aside. 

Step Two: Now take one large potato and boil it and cut it into cubes and keep it aside. I prefer to cut potato into cubes first and after that I boiled it. 

Step Three: Take one onion and tomato and chopped it nicely and keep it aside. Now our vegetables are ready. Next step is cooking.

Step Four: Now heat one tbsp oil into a pan and add panch-phoron and a green chili into it.(Panch-phoron is basically mixture of five spices like carom seeds, fenugreek Seeds,mustard seeds, Cumin seeds and nigella seeds).

Step Five: Now add chopped onion into it and fry until onion gets brown.

Step Six: Now add ginger garlic paste and saute. It has to be fried until its raw flavor gone.

Step Seven: Now add chopped tomato into it and saute. Keep frying the tomatoes until its getting soft.

Step Eight: Now its time to add our dry spices. Dry spices are Coriander powder, Turmeric powder, Red-chili powder and Garam masala powder.saute all the spices evenly.

Step Nine: Now add chopped spinach into it and mix it evenly. Keep cooking the spinach for five to seven minutes until it gets soft.

Step Ten: Now add boil potato into it and mix this evenly. Add salt also as per taste. Keep cooking for five minute in medium flame after adding potatoes so that potato can be mixed with all the spices evenly.

Step Eleven: Now its time to add water into it. Add 1/2 cups of water into it and mix it evenly.

Step Twelve: Now close the lid and cook it for 10 to 12 minute in low flame.

Spinach potato curry is ready. Serve it Hot.


NB. 1. This recipe won't take much time to cook as our potatoes are already boiled and spinach doesn't take much time to cook.

2. Make sure recipe won't get over boiled.
