IVY GOURD FRY - TINDORA FRY RECIPE - KUNDRU FRY-TENDLI FRY- KOVAKKAI FRY



Ivy Gourd is a very delicious vegetable. Its basically looks like small sized Indian Cucumber. It has many names in different parts of India like Kudru, Tendli, Tindora, Kovakkai ect.  It can be consumed as a dry fry recipe or gravy recipe or salad as well. Here today I am going to share Dry fry recipe. It can be served as a side dish with Rice or Chapatti. Let's check the necessary Ingredients and the step by step method of cooking this amazing veg recipe---

Main Ingredients Of This Recipe:

Ivy Gourd cut into slices,
Onion 1 large cut into slices,
Turmeric powder 1/4 tsp,
Red chilli powder 1/4 tsp,
Coriander powder 1/2 tsp,
Green chilli as per taste( optional)
Salt as per taste,
Oil for cooking 1 tbsp.

Method Of Cooking Step By Step:

First Step: Wash Ivy gourd nicely and dry it. Now cut and remove both the ends 1 inch. Now cut it in long thin slices.

Second Step: Cut 1 medium sized potato also into thin slices.

Third Step: Cut one medium sized onion also into slices.

Now our vegetable is ready for cooking. For cooking I always prefer less amount of oil. By this method any recipe can be cook in a healthy way.

Fourth Step: Now its time to switch on the flame and heat a pan and add 1 tbsp oil into it.

Fifth Step: Add one green chili into it . Green chili is optional or its quantity can be increased or decreased as per taste. I have added one green chili. Make sure when green chili is added to oil it must be slit little bit to avoid it bursting.

Sixth Step: Add sliced onion to it and saute until onion becomes golden brown.

Seventh Step: As onion turns into golden brown in color its time to add our veggie. So add sliced Ivy gourd and potato and mix it evenly.

Eighth Step: Now After mixing it nicely its time to add our dry spices. Add salt as per taste and mix evenly. Add coriander powder, Turmeric powder and red-chili powder and mix it nicely. Now close the lid and cook for 10 minute. Check in-between and keep saute to avoid burning. Flame should be medium. 

Ninth Step: 10 minutes is sufficient to cook this recipe if it is not cooked then cook for another 3 to 4 minute in low flame.


Ivy Gourd Fry is ready. Its a delicious recipe. It can be served with rice as an excellent side dish. Serve it hot.


NB: 1. While cooking this recipe if you feel that it is stuck into the pan than sprinkle some water to it to avoid burning.

2. While buying Ivy gourd make sure it is green otherwise recipe won't comes out good. If it is ripe it becomes red in color and its taste becomes sour.
