Dry potato recipe is very easy to make and delicious recipe. Since it is dry recipe it is very convenient for lunchbox. It can be served as a side dish with hot steamed rice or can be served with roti, paratha or puri(Indian breads). The main Ingredient of this recipe is potato which is cooked with mustard oil and added spices. Those who loves potato this is perfect recipe for you. Let's see the necessary ingredients to prepare this recipe and step by step method of cooking.

Necessary Ingredients To Prepare Dry Potato Recipe:


Potato 2 large size,
Onion 1 large size,
Garlic cloves 3 to 4 pieces,
Turmeric powder 1/4 tsp,
Redchili powder 1/2 tsp,
cumin-coriander powder 1/2 tsp,
Dry mango powder(aamchur powder) 1/4 tsp,
Panch-phoron 1/4 tsp,
Mustard oil 1 tbsp,
Water 1/4 cup for cooking,

Water 2 cups for boiling the potatos,
Salt as per taste,
Sugar 1/2 tsp




Step By Step Method Of Cooking Dry Potato Recipe:


Step One: Cut potato into cubes and keep it aside. Make sure to soak it into water so that it doesn't get oxidize.

Step Two: Now take one large onion and 3 to 4 pieces of garlic cloves and finely chopped them. 

Step Three: Now boil 2 to 3 cups of water into a man.

Step Four: When water starts boiling add potatoes to it and give it a nice boil and lower the flame. Boil potatoes for 5 to 6 minutes till it 40% boiled.

Step Five: After 40% of boiling the potatoes strain the water and keep potatoes aside.

Step Six: Now heat a pan and add mustard oil to it. Ant other coking oil can also be used. I have used mustard oil since I personally like it.

Step Seven: As oil is becomes hot add some panch phoron to it. Please make sure that panch phoron doesn't get burnt.

Step Eight: Now add chopped onion and garlic to it and fry until it becomes golden brown.

Step Nine: While frying the onions add pinch of sugar to it. Sugar gives a nice texture to our recipe.

Step Ten: Now add boiled potatoes and mix them nicely. Make sure that flame if low or medium so that potatoes doesn't get burnt.

Step Eleven: Now add dalt as per taste.

Step Twelve: Add red chilli powder, cumin-coriander powder and turmeric powder and mix nicely.

Step Thirteen: Add some water. I have added 1/4th cup of water to it.

Step Fourteen: Now add some dry mango powder and mix nicely.

Step Fifteen: Now close the lid for 5 to six minutes. Cook it in low flame.

Step Sixteen: Now after 5 to 6 minutes check the potatoes if it is properly cooked.

Our Dry Potato recipe is ready. It can be served with Steamed rice as a side dish or with roti, paratha etc.  


NB: Please make sure that panch-phoron doesn't get burnt just make it little brown. If it's get burnt it tastes bitter.
